Every quarter I donate to at least one cause. Today I’m sharing a campaign that I have a personal connection to. Sabrena is a member of my group Triangle Writers. She has participated with many writing workshops over the years, and she even trekked out to Georgia this spring when I spoke at the Blue Ridge Writers Conference. Sadly, Sabrena’s home in eastern North Carolina has suffered terrible storm damage.
Organization: Sabrena Robinson, writer
Location: Erwin, North Carolina
What she does: Sabrena is nurse, a mother, and a writer.
Funding: Crowdfunding campaign.
How I learned about her need: I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and saw Sabrena’s (@poetsoulsmr) status update requesting support of her GoFundMe campaign. Her home, furniture, personal items, appliances, and her son’s vehicle have been destroyed due to water damage from the flooding of Hurricane Matthew. She has to completely rebuild her family’s life from scratch. Her insurance will not cover replacement costs related to flood damage, so she started a crowdfunding campaign to help her family start over. I was sad to see a kind person I know suffer such a loss so I had to donate and share her story.
Interested in supporting Sabrena’s recovery? You can donate to her GoFundMe campaign and/or share it with your social media, friends, and family.
