The Holly Springs Community Arts Festival is this Saturday, February 6th. As part of the many creative programs, myself and two of my favorite Living Poets (yes, we are all part of Living Poetry) lead a free poetry workshop at 1PM in the Holly Springs Cultural Center.
My co-hosts include Hillsborough-based poet Bart Barker and Holly Springs writer Chris Abbate. Myself and Bart are two of the three co-organizers of Living Poetry. Bart’s poetry appears in various anthologies, journals, and on the Raleigh R-line buses. Chris is a Pushcart Prize nominee and has received several writing awards, published poetry in multiple journals, including Main Street Rag, Common Ground Review, Blue Heron Review, and others. I believe these two guys are some of the best contemporary poets and I love that they’re my friends.
Our workshop will include discussions on starting a poem, revising a poem, and publishing. We’ll have interesting prompts (a glow-in-the-dark die for one!) so if you are in the Raleigh-Durham area and available during the festival, stop by and bring something to write with and on. Walk-ins are welcome, but would be great for us to have a head count if you register on Living Poetry or Triangle Writers.
