Winston-Salem Writers offers the central region of North Carolina a ton of resources for writers. Last year I was pleased to have one of my poems selected for their Poetry in Plain Sight program. This year, I was once again pleased when they asked if I would submit my poem for consideration in a new program they were running with Associated Artists, an organization fostering art in communities.

The new program was designed to convert vacant retail space into art installation displays, the twist was that the art installations will be inspired by a handful of selected poets.

I was yet again pleased when my poem was among the few chosen to be included!

Sadly, the unveiling took place on the same night and at the exact same time as my flight to Italy earlier this month. The day before I left I was told the mayor of Winston-Salem would read my poem in my place at the unveiling ceremony. I was sad not to be there! I hope to head out there next week and take a peek. For now, read an article about the installations in the Winston-Salem Journal and here are photos provided by Julie Kolischak of WSW:
