I want to share this link to a free recording of a great session at the 2014 American Society of Journalists & Authors Conference in New York last month. The session “Our Work, Our Copy(Rights): What’s at Stake Now” was presented by ASJA president Minda Zetlin and featured Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts attorney David Leichtman. (VLA is a fantastic network of attorneys who provide probono or discounted legal services for individuals who work as writers, musicians, artists, and other creative fields. I consulted with one a few years ago and had a great experience. Look for an attorney in your area.)
The recordings are easy to listen to, both on your computer or on your phone. (If you’re like me, you have a library full of TBL podcasts that is as big as your TBR book pile!)
ASJA has generously provided gratis both Minda’s presentation and another on how to tell the stories of victims who survived traumatic accidents.
Sometimes I feel like a sales rep for ASJA, but I receive no compensation for the praise I will continue to spread. The conference is worth every penny! Take a look at all the sessions for writers that took place last month. If you didn’t make it to each one or if you did not travel to New York this year, you can purchase each session for $15 ($10 for members). Otherwise, here are the complimentary recordings below:
