Yes, the spring newsletter was not sent last week. Spring seems to be taking its time arriving, so the newsletter followed suit!

Russ Brandon’s script—which was critiqued in TW’s screenwriting group—The Cotton House was in its third film festival. This time it was the Hayti Film Festival and the screening was a success.

Glenn Cassidy was selected to read his poem “Your Chromosomes Are Shrinking!” at the Poetry Scope Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in January. His poem “The Great Beyond” won third prize in the North Carolina Poetry Society’s 2013 Poetry of Love Contest and will appear in the 2013 edition of Pinesong. He has a book forthcoming, details soon.

Tessie Castillo published “We Can End Opiate OD Deaths” on the The Fix. She has a few pieces forthcoming on the AlterNet, one about how Big Pharma is jacking up prices for naloxone, the antidote to opiate overdose, and the other will be published on Mother’s Day about mothers who have lost children to overdose.

Barbara Davis book The Secrets She Carried is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Her agent discovered her at one of Triangle Writers’ critique groups in Cary a few years ago!

Tara Lynne Groth (Me!) published a few pieces on Mountain Hiking. I also ghostwrote articles in Senior Outlook Today and Expert Beacon for clients.

Lyn Fairchild Hawks (who I interviewed here) just published a collection of short stories, The Flat and Weightless Tang-Filled FutureShe received a grant for emerging writers from the Elizabeth George Foundation, but that’s not all. Her YA novel for adults How Wendy Redbird Dancing Survived the Dark Ages of Nought releases this spring.
