New York has a reputation. It has many reputations. A recent Huffington Post article covered a panel discussion reviewing the Big Apple’s high and low tides of creativity. As the program’s title, it probed the question: Is New York Still a Home For Artists?
I love living in Raleigh. (I love it so much I’m building www.iloveraleigh.com.) Tonight I’m going to an open mic, tomorrow a poetry workshop, Friday I’m having a cocktail hour to celebrate my writing group exceeding 300 members, Saturday I’m hosting a workshop using aromas/scents as writing prompts and Sunday I’m volunteering with Artsplosure – one of my favorite creative festivals in the south. Pretty obvious Raleigh is a creative place, no? It’s more the City of Artists than the City of Oaks.
As a writer, do you feel you live in a particularly creative area – or do you feel isolated?
On a separate note – I’ve randomly selected the winner of my first blog giveaway contest. The winner is Lindsay, California-based blogger behind The Non-Writing Writer! Lindsay gets a box of Godiva chocolates and her choice of one of my books. Congratulations!
