Recording Poetry Podcast

Myself, Pam Taylor and Bart Barker recording a podcast for Living Poetry in Raleigh.

This January will mark Living Poetry‘s 3 Year Anniversary. Angelika Teuber founded Living Poetry, which is now the Raleigh-Durham area’s largest group of poets. She started it back when she didn’t know any other poetry lovers in the Triangle area and wanted to see if any existed, and if so, to connect with them. The group started off with just one reading per month. We all gathered around a table, Angelika brought snacks, and we read poetry by our own pen and that of famous writers. Then members started asking for workshops. Field trips. Visiting poets. Our group calendar now has a brunch reading, poetry book club, creativity workshop, field trips (to wineries, museums, historic homes), Poet Local events where published poets come to discuss their publishing career and in 2011 we started a podcast.

Listen to our most recent podcast here, recorded on December 3, 2011.

Poets in Raleigh

Pam and Bart, deep in poetic thought.

Our latest podcast is about dead poets in North Carolina. I think it’s funny that when I’m reading the part of a poem about a goose that one of Angelika’s cats meows. Also, keep an ear out for a little Easter Egg we always leave at the end.

Put it on while you’re cleaning or wrapping your holiday gifts. 🙂
